Alfie, who likes to use reclaimed wood where possible for his furniture, has been lovingly rescuing wood from old furniture and building for many years.

His workshop is piled high with reclaimed oak, pitched pine, mahogany and maple. Sheets of gloriously figured burr elm veneer lean against boxes and boxes of old brass and iron door and drawer furniture.

Customers come from all over, people with specific individual requirements, looking for someone who can turn their ideas into reality.

Recently completed commissions include: building a reduced size copy of a client's existing 18th century oak dresser, a small burr oak veneered 17th century style chest of drawers on bun feet, pitched pine kitchen dresser and cupboards, and oak apple ladder - all made for a small country cottage needy of bespoke furniture because nothing "off shelf" would fit! - a spindle fronted cupboard to hide unsightly electricity meters, oak plate rack and corner cupboard for a large country house kitchen and tailor made furniture including a bed and video cupboards for a disabled gentleman with special needs.
